House Set to Vote on Tax Reform Bill, Which Includes Provision for Unborn

The GOP is hoping to successfully pass a tax reform bill very soon. The House will vote on the bill, HR 1, on Thursday, November 16.

According to LifeNews.com, the bill contains an important provision for unborn babies. The bill would allow parents to name unborn children as beneficiaries of the 529 College Savings Plan.

The provision has garnered the praise of pro-life advocates who see it as an acknowledgement that babies inside the womb have full status as human beings.

The provision has also garnered criticism from abortion supporters, including the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) and Planned Parenthood.

The National Right to Life, however, is in full support of the provision. They have also worked to make sure the tax credit for adoption remains a part of the tax reform bill.

According to CBS News, the tax reform bill would also cut the corporate tax rate, reduce the number of tax brackets, and cut taxes for individuals overall.

President Trump and the GOP are hoping that they can have some success with tax reform, unlike the roadblocks they faced with healthcare. “[T]ax cuts are getting close!” the President tweeted ahead of Thursday’s vote.
