CNN: Anderson Cooper’s Anti-Trump Tweet Came from Assistant’s Phone, not ‘Hack’
CNN has released a statement claiming that a tweet sent from Anderson Cooper’s account calling Trump a “pathetic loser” was sent from the phone of Cooper’s assistant, who had left the device unsupervised at his gym.
BuzzFeed News reports that following a tweet sent out by CNN pundit Anderson Cooper which called President Trump a “pathetic loser,” the news station has issued a statement claiming that it was not Cooper who had sent the tweet but a member of the gym attended by Cooper’s assistant. The initial tweet sent from Cooper’s account was in reply to President Trump’s tweet about Roy Moore’s general election loss in Alabama.
The reason I originally endorsed Luther Strange (and his numbers went up mightily), is that I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election. I was right! Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!

A reply from Cooper’s Twitter account stated, “Oh Really? You endorsed him you tool! Pathetic loser.” This tweet was deleted a few hours later, and a second tweet was posted by Cooper stating that someone had “gained access” to his account and that he has “not sent a tweet in days.” Cooper said that CNN was investigating how the tweet had been sent from his account,
just woke up to find out someone gained access to my twitter account. i have not sent a tweet in days or replied to any tweets. We are looking into how this happened.

Many were quick to jump to Cooper’s defense after the initial tweet was posted, including CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski who runs the news agency’s KFILE department which is allegedly the “leading investigation team for the social, mobile generation,” but even Kaczynski claimed to have no knowledge of how the initial tweet was posted.
don’t know what happened, but that tweet was a 1000% not Anderson.

Other Twitter users were quick to ridicule the tweet.

A CNN spokesperson then revealed in a statement to BuzzFeed News that the tweet had been sent from Cooper’s assistant’s phone by someone attending his gym. CNN did not speculate how the third party gained access to the phone. Smartphones are frequently locked with a passcode or fingerprint ID.
In regards to a tweet from @andersoncooper’s account early this morning that called Trump a “pathetic loser” – CNN is saying it was definitely NOT sent by Cooper, and that his assistant accidentally left his phone out unlocked at the gym ὄ pic.twitter.com/POmmHbndtR

Twitter users were also quick to ridicule this explanation from CNN.
This sounds like a real thing!!!! Definitely wasn’t the assistant!!!

The assistant getting fired? Who leaves an important phone unlocked these days, I’m a nobody and I lock my phone all the time!

This is currently the only official statement by CNN explaining the tweet sent from Anderson’s account.
