10-Year-Old Meme Gets Second Chance At Life As Church Social Media Post
MARATHON, FL—Long thought dead and gone forever, the decade-old “Most Interesting Man In The World” meme of internet lore was given a miraculous second chance at life Tuesday after being posted to the 291-follower-strong Facebook page of Johnson Ave Baptist Church.
“I don’t always go to church. But when I do, I go to Johnson Ave Baptist,” declared the hilarious meme, which after six days of being posted had already been “liked” by two fans.
“I did a little research and found out that this meme is based on some commercials that used to run some time ago, where this guy here took part in all sorts of crazy shenanigans,” Henry Wells, a deacon who assisted the church secretary in sourcing the meme, told reporters. “He said, ‘I don’t always drink beer. But when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.’ Well we switched it right around from something evil like beer and we redeemed it for the Lord, all while making it a super funny and relevant invitation for young, hip people who might want to come visit our church!”
Meme enthusiasts across the internet were watching intently to see if this social media post would lead to a second wind for the ancient Dos Equis meme.
At publishing time, the church secretary in charge of Johnson Ave Baptist’s social media efforts was enthusing to all who would listen about “these new rage comics” she had discovered, while drafting several versions she would be using in future social media posts.
