Rabbi Raziel Shevach who was murdered in a drive-by shooting attack in the West Bank Tuesday evening was laid to rest on Wednesday in Havat Gilad.

Hundreds of people attended the funeral, including Education Minister Naftali Bennett, Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel, Chief Rabbi David Lau and Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem Shlomo Amar.

Shevach was taken to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba last night and the hospital said hea rrived without a pulse, was not breathing and showed no signs of life. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

The funeral took place at the outpost located near the scene of the terror attack. He is the first person to be buried in the small settlement’s cemetery. Shevach, 35, leaves behind a wife and six children.

The perpetrators of the shooting have yet to be apprehended, as the IDF beefed up its presence in the West Bank in search of the gunmen.  

Some mourners called for revenge during Education Minister Naftali Bennett’s speech, to which he urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.

Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel stated: “We want the revenge of God, which is stronger than the revenge of any man.”
