President Trump is First President to Address National March for Life
“I’m honored and really proud to be the first president to stand with you to address the 45th march for life,” declared President Trump during his live addressto the March for Life in Washington D.C. on Friday, January 19th, 2018.
President Trump is the first inaugurated President of the United States to directly address the March for Life in Washington D.C. from a live satellite feed. Life Site Newsreported that the rally is in honor of the 60 million children killed in the womb since abortion become legal on January 22, 1973. In the historic Roe v. Wade case, the Supreme Court ruledthat women have the right to an abortion under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. The March for Life proceeds up Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court and Capital Building.
“We will always defend the very first right in the Declaration of Independence …the right to life,” President Trump declaredto a group gathered at the White House Rose Garden. Tens of thousands of pro-life supporters gathered down the road on the National Mall listened to the President’s historical speech live. President Trump emphasized his administration’s goal “to build a society where life is celebrated and cherished. A movement born out of love, for every child, born or unborn, as a precious gift from God,” the President committed. The Vice President’s words echoed the administration’s goal to “restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law.”
Vice President Pence also addressed the rally and introduced Trump as “the most pro-life president in American History.” USA Today reported that the rally is the “largest annual pro-life demonstration.”
“Love saves lives,” is the motto for this year’s march, representing the hopes of the movement to end government funding of Planned Parenthood, and to reverse the legality of abortion. “Roe v Wade resulted in some of the most permissive laws on abortion,” stated the President, “some states allowing abortion in the 9th month.”
Vice President Pence assured the crowds gathered in support of the pro-life movement that they are gaining ground and support. “Your compassion, consistence, activism, and prayers are saving lives,” he told the crowd. “Never doubt we are with you.” Pence continued to encourage the movement, stating, “This president stands with you,” and quoting Jeremiah 1:5 from Scripture, stated, “and He who said ‘before I formed you in the womb I knew you’ is with you as well.”
President Trump thanked everyone involved in the campaign for life, “with such big hearts and tireless devotion to make sure that parents have the care and support they need to support life.” Fox News reportedthat “love is likely to get a helping hand from science and technology to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.” The ultrasound technology now available 45 years later has a huge effect on a woman’s decision to decline abortion.
President Trump urged the Senate in regards to policies his administration wishes to put into place. David Daleiden, founder of the Center of Medical Progress, told LifeSiteNews, “President Trump is ready to sign the bill to strip $500 million in taxpayer subsidies from Planned Parenthood’s abortion empire as soon as the Senate gets its act together and stands with him.” The President also spoke of the executive order to protect religious freedom that he signed on the National Day of Prayer.
“America’s future will be filled with goodness, peace, joy dignity and life for every child of God,” the President stated, “Thank you to the March of Life. We are with you all the way. May God Bless you, and bless America.”
