Hungarian Prime Minister: ‘Christianity is Europe’s Last Hope’

Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orban made a strong statement in his recent state of the nation address.

“Christianity is Europe’s last hope,” said Orban in his 20th annual address. He went on to say that he believes the open immigration policies so many countries in Europe have adopted are paving the way for radical Islam to infiltrate the continent.

Politicians in other cities such as Brussels, Berlin, and Paris have “opened the way to the decline of Christian culture and the advance of Islam,” he continued, according to FoxNews.com.

Orban also voiced concerns that “born Germans are being forced back from most large German cities, as migrants always occupy big cities first.”

The topic of immigration in Europe has become a heightened issue in recent years, particularly because some of the more recent terrorists attacks have been perpetrated by immigrants from Muslim-majority nations, which has caused some politicians to question their country’s immigration vetting policies.

Orban has been Hungary’s prime minister since 1998 and is seeking reelection for a third consecutive term in April. Orban is part of the Fidesz–Hungarian Civil Alliance party which is the country’s nationalist conservative and right-wing populist party. Orban has led the party for most of its existence.
