Conspiracy Theorists Arrested for Harassing FBC Sutherland Springs’ Pastor
Two conspiracy theorists allegedly harassed Pastor Frank Pomeroy as he pulled up to the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas Monday morning. Pastor Pomeroy was not present when a gunman opened fire on the church in October, killing twenty-six people, including Pomeroy’s daughter.
The man and woman, both in their 50’s, yelled at Pomeroy as he exited his vehicle and approached the church building. They asked him for proof that his daughter existed and that she actually died. Pomeroy’s wife Sherri, who was not present at the time, said the man demanded, “Produce me a death certificate.”
In addition, Pomeroy claims the man threatened him. “He threatened to hang me, and pee on me while I was hanging,” he told reporers.
The couple runs a website devoted to “proving” that mass shootings are hoaxes perpetuated by the United States government. They claim that the Sutherland Springs shooting, as well as the ones in Parkland, Newtown, and Las Vegas, never happened.
A church member called the police while the couple videoed their interaction with Pomeroy. Both of them were taken into custody. The man was charged with making a terrorist threat and the woman faces a charge of trespassing.
Sutherland Springs residents have been dealing with this couple for some time. Pomeroy noticed them immediately as they approached him and prayed they would stay long enough for the police to arrive. He told reporters that he prays that this is the end of the harassment.
