Israel shuts down Gaza border crossing damaged by Palestinian protesters

Tel Aviv has closed the Kerem Shalom crossing at the Gaza-Israeli border after it was damaged during the recent wave of Great March of Return protests. “The crossing will remain closed until the damage caused by the riots are repaired and will reopen in accordance with a situation assessment,” the Israel Defense Forces said on Twitter, adding that Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman approved “the recommendation to close the crossing.” On Friday, Palestinian protesters started fires on the Palestinian side of the crossing, damaging gas pipelines leading to the enclave, the IDF said. The Kerem Shalom crossing is used by trucks carrying goods and food supplies between Israel and Gaza.
