Moving Photo Shows Atlanta Braves Fan Shielding JROTC Member from Rain
A powerful image is capturing attention today. The photo shows a fan at the Atlanta Braves game at SunTrust park holding an umbrella over a JROTC cadet while it rained.
The JROTC member, dressed in uniform, was standing near the Braves’ POW-MIA Chair of Honor at the ballpark. The fan, dressed in a red raincoat, shielded the service member from the rain during Monday’s Memorial Day game between the Braves and the New York Mets.
The photo was shared by the Braves and captioned with the word “Respect.” The image quickly received attention for the moving gesture of honor to a service member, especially on Memorial Day, the day set aside to honor those who serve the nation.

Fox News reports that the plaque near the Chair of Honor where the JROTC member was standing was dedicated at the ballpark last year and reads:
“Since World War I more than 92,000 American soldiers are unaccounted for. This unoccupied seat is dedicated to the memory of these brave men and women and to the sacrifice they made in serving this country.”
