Israeli Air Force strikes 15 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip overnight
IAF Gaza strikes June 3 2018
Israeli Air Force jets carried out 15 airstrikes against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip late Saturday night, the IDF spokesperson reported.
The strikes were in retaliation for mortars fired toward southern Israeli communities earlier on Saturday evening, including attempts to damage the security border fence and use burning kites to set fields on fire within Israel, reported IDF spokesperson.
At least four projectiles were fired from Gaza at Israel, the military said in a statement, adding that three were intercepted and one fell short.
If Hamas “chooses to follow a path of terrorism and not solve the difficulties of the people of Gaza it will continue to pay a heavy price that will only become steeper, as much as needed,” said the IDF spokesperson.
IAF attack helicopters struck five targets within a Hamas naval arm outpost early Sunday morning in retaliation for an attempt to fire a rocket into Israel, the IDF spokesperson reported.
No casualties were reported by Palestinian media and it is believed Hamas and Islamic Jihad ordered their men to evacuate the targeted outposts before the IAF began the strikes.
Palestinian media reports that the Yarmouk outpost in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in Gaza was shelled and burned.
The Popular Resistance Committees reportedly carried out the Saturday evening attacks in retaliation for the death of 21-year-old paramedic Razan al-Najar, killed Friday during violent protests in southern Gaza.
