A Texas police officer is being praised after she bought replacement groceries and medicine for a man who had just had his bags stolen.
Officer Kirsten Koryciak of the Houston Police Department bought the groceries and medicine for the man at a Walmart after he collapsed outside the store due to a diabetic episode. Fox News first reported the good deed.
Emergency medical personnel initially assisted the man, who regained conscience and realized his groceries and medicine had been swiped. He then found Koryciak, who was working inside as a security guard.
The man was between 50 and 60. Koryciak’s father also is diabetic.
“I offered to buy his groceries to get him some food because he was diabetic and I know that he needed to eat,” she told Fox, adding that the total bill was around $25.
She sensed the man was on a fixed income and could not afford to buy groceries and medicine again. She “didn’t think twice” about what she did.
“If you see somebody being mistreated, or somebody being taken advantage of, say something,” she said.
