Looking to save money for a future kid? Apparently mothers can make that happen by accidentally giving birth while in transit.
Just this Monday, a woman gave birth to her baby boy while on a train in busy central Paris. It was 11 AM, and the unexpected labor led to a 45-minute travel delay on that particular line. Station screens announced to confused commuters that the cause of the delay was the “unexpected birth of a baby at Auber Station.”
Although passengers were told to evacuate the car during the birth, about 15 people stuck around to help out. This included mostly emergency workers, police, and railway staff,according to the Independent. But CNN says that passengers also pitched in, leading to a successful delivery at 11:40 AM. After the delivery, mother and son checked in at a local hospital. Reports say they’re doing well.
In celebration of the baby boy and his unique “choice” of birth location, the railway company has offered the infant free travel until his 25th birthday.
He’s not the first kid to earn free transportation for being born during travel. According to CNN, at least two other babies have earned free airline tickets for life after being born during their moms’ flights.
