AFTERLIFE—Representatives for Judas Iscariot have revealed that the maligned betrayer of Jesus actually misspoke when he interacted with the religious leaders who wanted to arrest the Messiah.
According to Judas’s spokespeople, it was a “simple misunderstanding” in which the disciple told the leaders “I definitely would betray Jesus for money,” while meaning to say “I definitely WOULDN’T betray Jesus for money.” The wheels were then set in motion for Judas to deliver the Christ over to the Sanhedrin in exchange for 30 pieces of silver, all based on the fumbling of a single word.
“Things got out of hand, one thing led to another, and Judas became unfairly painted as the villain in the gospels,” one rep said. Judas claimed he didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late.
“It was all an honest mistake,” the rep added.
