Pastor Who Hasn’t Baptized Anyone In Eight Years Criticizes Saddleback’s 50,000th Baptism Celebration
TUPELO, MS—Upon reading a news story on Saddleback Church’s recent celebration of its 50,000th baptism, local pastor Greg Neville took to social media to criticize Rick Warren’s ministry, despite Neville not having baptized a single person in the last eight years.
The minister of the gospel who hasn’t bothered to evangelize to anyone or attempt to bring more people into the kingdom of God at any point for nearly a decade slammed Warren for his “wishy-washy, seeker-sensitive, growth-obsessed” church model.
“Warren obviously doesn’t take the time to make sure these people’s faith is legitimate,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “The last time I baptized someone—which was in the summer of 2010, if I remember right—I made sure he understood all the points of the gospel, the five solas of the Reformation, the Institutes of the Christian Religion, and pretty much all of the catechisms first.”
The pastor who hasn’t recently lifted a finger to advance the kingdom of God was quick to point out that some of the people baptized by Warren and his fellow Saddleback pastors might have an anemic understanding of the gospel, while he hadn’t bothered to communicate the gospel to anyone in his own community in many, many years.
“I guess Warren’s OK with Christianity not being an exclusive club just for the theologically aware,” he added.
