The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is expected to take center stage at the United Nations Security Council monthly debate on the Middle East.

The debate will be chaired by the United States will holds the UNSC rotating presidency this month. The 15-member council will be briefed by UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov, who is expected to discuss Gaza and efforts to reconcile Fatah and Hamas.

He will also deliver his quarterly report on Israeli settlement building in the West Bank and construction of Jewish homes in east Jerusalem.
