Pandemonium Grips Media As HUNDREDS Of MIGRANTS From Honduras March To US-Mexico Border
A veritable media pandemonium is being promoted right now as allegedly hundred of Honduran “migrants” are “marching right now towards the US boarder in what is being called a “mass migration”:
Hundreds of Honduran migrants are headed for the United States border, just days after Vice President Pence sat down with the Central American country’s leader, urging him to take a tougher stance on mass migrations.
At least 1,300 people, including young children, left San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras on Saturday, in what some are calling the “March of the Migrant,” Reuters reported.
Bartolo Fuentes, the organizer, told the news agency that the group plans to march through Guatemala and into Mexico. From there, participants will request refugee status, which would allow them to stay in the country, or they will apply for a visa to pass through into the U.S.
The development came just days after Pence met with Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, President Jimmy Morales of Guatemala and Vice President Oscar Ortiz of El Salvador, asking them to step up and help combat illegal immigration in return for help from the U.S.
Pence addressed the three leaders on Thursday in Washington, at the Conference for Prosperity and Security in Central America.
“If you do more, I’m here to say on behalf of the president of the United States and the American people, we’ll do more,” he said.
Pence said that flows of illegal immigrants from Honduras and Guatemala are up 61 percent and 75 percent, respectively.
According to the Reuters report, 64 percent of Honduran households live in poverty. Many of the migrants are fleeing a poor economy and some of the highest crime rates in the world.
Hernandez told Pence he would like more certainty about what to expect from the United States, because the funds requested by the Trump administration are below allocations from previous years.
The Trump administration proposed $460 million in assistance last year, 30 percent less than what Congress approved in 2016 under President Barack Obama.
Mass migrations have become a growing problem at the border. In May, almost 200 migrants from Central America attempted to seek asylum in the U.S. after traveling with a caravan of over 1,000 migrants. (source, source)
Now, let’s step back and take a serious look at this.
The first question is how did Hondurans illegally cross into Mexico, which has strict laws on immigration and WILL jail illegal border crossers regardless of national origins, including Americans, under normal circumstances. How curious it is they have been allowed to march to the US border, which from Honduras is about the distance from New York To Florida with such seemingly non-existent interference from the police.
Second, what exactly does one thing these “hundreds” of “migrants” are going to do, assuming they get to the US border? Are they going to STORM THE BORDER? If so, with what weapons? Are these people, who are most likely a bunch of fruit pickers and general laborers (I say that with all respect to them), going to use their shovels to catapult mangos and guavas at the border guards?
Third, has one considered that the elections are in a few weeks for the USA, and the idea of HORDES OF MIGRANT REFUGEES AT THE BORDERS makes for a very catchy news story?
Seriously, even if hundreds of people were marching, does anybody consider them a threat? Most people in Honduras earn only several hundred dollars a year, on par with African nations. If there is something they are going to most likely attack, it is going to the the “Bottomless Eggs Special” at Denny’s or a local all-you-can-eat buffet because they are hungry, and hungry people made bad invaders or soldiers.
If these people do get it, it is not because they “invaded,” but because they were ALLOWED in. Again, hundreds of people are no match for the most basic of modern weaponry, let alone hundreds of starving people. Such would be consistent with the entire bout of “illegal immigration,” as the government WANTS illegal workers because they act as cheap labor to subsidize the farm industry, which is central to US agricultural and foreign policy goals.
The reason the “illegal immigration” debate is never going to be solved is because it is a political tool used to start or maintain an argument. It is not about the welfare of the people regardless of the side, but about how the genuine plight of said people can be used to justify other policies.
If anything, the best way to handle it is the same way one handles a petulant child- to ignore said cries for attention, and focus on other matters of real value. Just as all crying children eventually stop crying and go to sleep in time, so do those provocateurs if one ignores them in favor of real issues.
