The IDF discovered a Hezbollah observation post that the Lebanese terror organization attempted to conceal as part of the operation of a fictitious environmental organization “Green Without Borders,” the IDF announced Monday.

The post was intended to gather information and undertake forward observations for Hezbollah. A senior Northern Command official said that the discovery represents a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and that the IDF  “will not allow” such activity.

In 2017, the IDF uncovered five other such observation posts.

This is an unforested area, the IDF officer explained, and the fake environmental organization only had military goals. Similarly, the Shi’ite organization prevents UN and UNIFIL forces from conducting investigations in the area, claiming that it is private land.

“From inside Israel we can see observation posts and sensor equipment,” the army claimed. “Even if the outpost is unarmed, we know that its goals are not innocent. The objective is to gather intelligence on the border.”

The outpost that was discovered allows Hezbollah to observe IDF activity just one kilometer from the border. The IDF said that Hezbollah has violated UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which states that it is illegal for an armed group apart from the Lebanese Army to operate south of the Litani River.
