Schoolwork Really Starting To Get In The Way Of Kid’s ‘Fortnite’ Studies
AUSTIN, TX—Sources close to local kid Emmett Samson confirmed Wednesday that all of the boy’s homework is really beginning to distract him from his Fortnite studies.
“I’m falling behind, losing focus. I didn’t even finish in the top 10 in my last BR match,” he told his parents. “I just don’t know what to do.”
The boy tries to clear out his schedule so that he can play hours and hours of the game’s Battle Royale mode, but increasingly finds himself pulled away to do less important things like schoolwork. His parents have tried to encourage him to prioritize his schedule, but he still gets yanked away from the keyboard several times a day. “How will I ever make millions of dollars streaming games on Twitch if I keep losing focus like this? Ugh.”
Experts warn that more and more kids are finding their time divided between their important work in Fortnite and distractions like homework, chores, mealtimes, church activities, and interaction with the outside world.
“We’re seeing a sharp uptick in the number of kids who neglect their daily 8-hour Fortnite binge,” said Dr. Stan Headley of Johns Hopkins University. “It’s important to remind your children that their education upon which their future depends isn’t everything, and that there are more important things we need to spend time on: like achieving quality Victory Royales every day.”
