The appointment will be submitted for approval on Friday by the Advisory Committee for the Appointment of Senior Officials, headed by retired judge Eliezer Goldberg.

MK Erdan chatted with two other candidates that had been up for the position, Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevi and Maj. Gen. David Bitan, and thanked them for their respectable efforts.

The decision process for the role of police commissioner has been occurring for the past two months, which included consultations with senior police and security officials of past and present, including Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh.

Erdan stated that “Edri has impressive and proven command capabilities, along with many years of experience in a wide variety of positions in the Israel Police.”

“All of these make him the most suitable candidate.”
