Hundreds protest as Shin Bet arrests fifth suspect in Jewish terror case
A fifth Jewish minor suspect was arrested Saturday. The boy is from the same yeshiva as the four other young detainees.
Rabbi Yehuda Gilad, rosh yeshiva of Ma’ale Gilboa and a former Labor Party MK, and settler leaders Yossi Dagan, Yisrael Gantz and Eliyahu Liberman all attended the protest, organizers said.
At the protest, a video was screened in which leading Religious-Zionist Rabbi Haim Druckman called on the government to release the suspects.
“I call from the bottom of my heart on the prime minister to order the release of these boys, three boys held by the Shin Bet,” Druckman said.
“If there is any problem, it should be investigated as anyone is in the State of Israel, but under no circumstances in the basement of the Shin Bet,” Druckman added. “They are not terrorists. I am worried about the proper and just conduct of the State of Israel.”
State Attorney Shai Nitzan said at the Calcalist conference on Monday that “terror is terror is terror” and that Jewish terrorists should not get off easily simply because they are not Arabs.
The Shin Bet itself has made no comment in the case.
There were no allegations of the Shin Bet using any sort of enhanced interrogation on the suspects yet, though perhaps change is near, as another suspect has been added to the case. However, it did use such methods in 2015 in the alleged Duma Jewish terror conspirators.
