U.S.—After Fox News inadvertently aired a graphic claiming Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had died, fact-checking website PolitiFact quickly corrected the cable news channel’s error, rating the claim as “mostly false.”
“Fox News claimed in a graphic that Ginsburg had passed,” the brief fact check article read. “This is mostly false. The evidence indicates that Ginsburg is at least slightly alive. If she were all dead, there would be only one thing you could do: go through her robes and look for loose change.”
PolitiFact employees confirmed at publishing time they were checking in on Ginsburg hourly so they could update the fact check should the situation change.
