‘I Am a Christian’ Gaga Claims, Calls Pence ‘Worst’ Christian Example as Wife Works at School Prohibiting Homosexuality
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — After using profanity to speak about the president, the secular pop star known as Lady Gaga called Vice President Mike Pence the “worst representation of what it means to be a Christian” during a concert on Saturday. Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, told those in attendance that she is a “Christian woman” and that it’s “wrong” for Pence’s wife to work for a school that prohibits homosexuality.
“If the [expletive] president of the United States could please put our government back,” Germanotta said to those attending her “Enigma” show at Park Theater in Las Vegas, according to USA Today. “There are people who live paycheck to paycheck and need their money.”
She continued on to the vice president.
“To Mike Pence, who thinks that it’s acceptable that his wife works at a school that bans LGBTQ—you’re wrong,” Germanotta declared. “You’re the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian.”
“I am a Christian woman, and what I do know about Christianity is that we bear no prejudice, and everybody is welcome,” she said. “So you can take all that disgrace, Mr. Pence, and look yourself in the mirror and you’ll find it right there.”
Germanotta was referring to a recent announcement from Karen Pence that she has returned to teaching, and has taken a job at Immanuel Christian School in Virginia, run by Immanuel Bible Church.
The employment application for the school reportedly asks those who wish to serve as staff to agree to uphold Christian lifestyle standards, following “a personal life of moral purity.”
“Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites, and sexual abuse or improprieties toward minors as defined by Scripture and federal or state law.”
It also reads, according to NBC News, “I understand that the term ‘marriage’ has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman.”
A parental agreement on the school website also asks applicants to acknowledge that the school partnership is “designed for parents who are born-again, Bible-believing Christians” and that Immanuel Christian School’s aim is to “partner with families to encourage students to be imitators of Christ.” Parents are advised that it is the school’s discretion to deny an application should the household be “counter to, or … in opposition to, the biblical lifestyle the school teaches.”
Examples of unacceptable conduct include engaging in or promoting sexual immorality, rebellion against authority, divisiveness, or homosexual and bisexuality.
“I acknowledge the importance of a family culture based on biblical principles and embrace biblical family values such as a healthy marriage between one man and one woman,” the agreement also reads. “My role as spiritual mentor to my children will be taken seriously.”
As previously reported, Germanotta, whose music videos are often performed in little clothing and are sexually suggestive, sings about homosexuality in her song “Born This Way,” claiming, “A different lover is not a sin, believe capital H-I-M. … No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive. … I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes.”
However, the Scriptures outline that all are born with the Adamic sin nature and are “by nature the children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3), having various inherent inclinations that are contrary to the law of God and being utterly incapable of changing themselves.
It is why Jesus outlined in John 3:5-7 that men must be regenerated by the second birth, or they cannot see the kingdom of Heaven.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ Nicodemus saith unto him, ‘How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?’ Jesus answered, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ‘Ye must be born again.’”
The late preacher J.C. Ryle outlined in his sermon “Regeneration,” “He who is born again has had the eyes of his understanding opened, and the Ten Commandments appear to him in an entirely new light. He feels amazed that he could have lived so long careless and indifferent about transgressions, and he looks back on the days gone by with shame and sorrow and grief. As for his daily conduct, he allows himself in no known sin; he makes no compromise with his old habits and his old principles; he gives them up unsparingly, though it cost him pain, though the world think him over-precise and a fool—but he is a new man, and will have nothing more to do with the accursed thing—sin.”
“I do not say but that he comes short, and finds his old nature continually opposing him—and this, too, when no eye can see it but his own—but then he mourns and repents bitterly over his own weakness. And this at least he has about him: he is at war, in reality, with the devil and all his works, and strives constantly to be free.”
