Naive Newlywed Husband Believes Wife’s ‘Valentine’s Day Not A Big Deal’ Comment
PORTLAND, OR—Monica and Travis Williams will be spending their first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple this year. The two were joined in matrimony in June of last year, and are excitedly building their new life together.
Travis recently asked his new bride what special things she wanted to do or receive for Valentine’s Day. Monica quickly dismissed the question, saying, “Oh, we don’t need to make a big deal about it.”
Travis took his wife at her word and proudly shared the situation with the guys in his church small group. “I was gonna get her a box of chocolates, a dozen roses, and take her out for a nice dinner, but now I’m just gonna pick up a card at the grocery store. What a great gal!”
When the men in his group tried to convince the young husband that a couple’s first Valentine’s Day was, in fact, a big deal, Travis insisted on believing his wife’s comment. “We have a great relationship. If she wanted something, she would’ve told me.”
“The poor guy really believes his wife doesn’t think it’s a big deal,” said Travis’ small group leader Phil Anderson. “We’ve already added the fallout to our prayer request list.”
Monica has reportedly mentioned the conversation to her sister. “I told him it wasn’t a big deal, but I’m sure he’s gonna go all out. Travis is so romantic. He’ll probably cover our house in rose petals, make a candlelit dinner, and write me a love poem.”
While playing video games in the basement, Travis reflected on how blessed he is to be married to such a wonderful and considerate woman. He is currently using the Valentine’s Day card as a drink coaster.
