Twitter Offers To Give Trump’s Campaign A Major Gift To Help Him Win The 2020 Election
Twitter recently offered to give Trump’s campaign a major advantage over the yet-to-be-determined Democrat candidate by offering to censor “inappropriate” Tweets from him:
A Twitter executive on Wednesday said the company is considering a new feature that will label tweets from politicians, including President Trump, when they violate Twitter rules.
Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s head of legal, policy, and trust and safety, at a Washington Post event on Wednesday said the company might start annotating offensive tweets from public figures with a message about why they remain up.
Twitter has long held that some posts from public figures should remain up because they are “newsworthy,” even when they violate Twitter guidelines.
“One of the things we’re working really closely on with our product and engineering folks is, ‘How can we label that?’” Gadde said during the Post event. “How can we put some context around it so people are aware that that content is actually a violation of our rules and it is serving a particular purpose in remaining on the platform?”
Gadde was responding to a question about whether Trump is allowed to say whatever he wants on Twitter.
“When we leave that content on the platform there’s no context around that and it just lives on Twitter and people can see it and they just assume that is the type of content or behavior that’s allowed by our rules,” Gadde said.
Twitter’s policies dictate that tweets from politicians are important to public debate.
Trump has used his Twitter account to insult and berate his foes, including news organizations, Democrats, actors and more, raising questions from critics about why Twitter does not step in.
Gadde said the newsworthiness clause does not protect all tweets from a public figure.
“An example would be a direct violent threat against an individual that we wouldn’t leave on the platform because of the danger it poses to that individual,” Gadde said.
“But there are other types of content that we believe are newsworthy or in the public interest that people may want to have a conversation around,” she added. (source, source)
It is correct that they did not make an offer. However, even the mere discussion of censoring “inappropriate” tweets from Trump is an absolute gesture of support for him.
The basic premise is based around the recent Russiafake pseudo-scandal. As I noted, the entire scandal IS going to be the basis of his 2020 campaign, where Trump will compensate for his absolute failure to deliver on his promises by blaming it on “the Democrats” and will use the “scandal” as his proof.
It is why as I wrote in August 2018, Trump’s actions which crashed the Turkish lira were not a “punishment” at all, but a gift to the man who is increasingly positioning himself as a fledgling sultan of a neo-Ottoman Empire because they allowed him to open relationships and enact policies that he would previously have been criticized, attacked, or opposed for doing.
All that Trump has to do to win, most likely (as nothing is absolutely set, and upsets do happen), is to say for the next year-and-a-half “I was framed.”
What Twitter is doing is to help Trump with that, for with each tweet they censor, Trump will refer back to his “persecution” in the Russian pseudo-scandal and say that this action is “proof” that “they” are “out to get met” and for “no reason at all” other than “because the Democrats are socialists who hate America.”
Twitter is doing Trump a huge favor, and most likely, he will thank their CEO in private, for when the show is over and the doors close, many of these people regardless of side are friends whose purpose is to advance the interests of the powerful at the expense of the common man.
