Gantz: One day, I will certainly be prime minister
Less than a week after the elections, Blue and White Party chairman Beny Gantz said he was certain he would become prime minister during his political life.
“This is the first week in 52 weeks a year, 520 weeks before me,” Gantz said in an interview with Ilana Dayan, which was broadcast this evening on Channel 12’s Uvda program. “I assure all the people of Israel, those who voted for me and those who did not. It is my duty as head of the opposition to stand in the interest of all. One day I will certainly be prime minister.”
“I’m sure we’ve made quite a few mistakes along the way,” Gantz said in response to whether he celebrated too early following the initial exit polls showed him in the lead. But Gantz emphasized what he described as an unprecedented achievement by Blue and White and noted the high number of mandates despite his party’s youth.
With regards to his competitor, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Gantz felt he had what to learn from him.
“Netanyahu has many years of political experience, I do not have 23 weeks and he has 25 years – I do not know how to compare it,” he said. “He knows how to conduct campaigns well, I would be happy to learn from him.”
