Abortionist Previously Arrested for Rape Stops Car to Yell ‘Rape Them and Send Them Here’ at Sidewalk Counselors
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina abortionist who had been arrested five years ago on a rape charge that was later dropped, and who was previously captured on camera claiming that he is doing a service to taxpayers by ridding the world of “ugly black babies,” stopped his car on Saturday in front of those trying to reach abortive mothers and call out, “Rape them and send them here!”
Cities4Life in Charlotte captured the incident on camera, which has now been posted to social media. The short video shows Ashutosh “Ron” Virmani, abortionist at A Preferred Women’s Health Center, pulling into the driveway of the abortion facility, and then briefly pausing next to those on the sidewalk.
“Rape them and send them here!” he yells, repeating it a second time before driving off.
“It’s grievous to see such a flippant and insensitive attitude coming from a man that claims to care about women in difficult situations [and] at a ‘healthcare facility’ that claims to care about women in crisis,” wrote Vicky Kaseorg, who reported the matter on the Cities4Life website.
As previously reported, Virmani made national headlines in 2012 when members of the group Operation Save America went to his home to speak to him about their concerns regarding his practice. The encounter was captured on camera as two men and one woman spoke with Virmani.
“Don’t put pregnancy and adoption on the taxpayers,” Virmani stated. “I don’t wish to pay for the baby with my money.”
The woman then asked, “You would rather profit off of those children?”
Virmani replied, “No, no, no, I am not profiting. I, as a taxpayer, do not wish to pay for those babies to be born and brought up and kill those people in Colorado.” The abortionist was referring to the theater massacre in Aurora, allegedly committed by James Holmes.
“Go ahead and pay for them,” he exclaimed angrily. “Let me see you adopt one of those ugly black babies!”
“If you tell us, we’ll adopt them. … Give us a chance to adopt them,” one of the men replied as Virmani closed the door.
The video footage, which was posted to YouTube, went viral, and sparked outrage from many nationwide, including Dr. Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union.
“It’s all too obvious that he had a particular disgust for black babies and therefore has no problem killing them,” she said. “They think that they’re just … worthless, they’re unplanned, unwanted, and maybe even in this abortionist’s case, uglier than other children. I just think that it’s appalling. It’s despicable, and it turns my stomach. It makes me sick.”
Virmani later recorded a video apologizing for his remarks, stating that he had “lost [his] cool in the heat of exchange.” He also claimed that he was “illegally” videotaped and that his words were taken “out of context.”
“I’m not a racist. I work with African American, Spanish, and Caucasian people,” he said. “My patients are very diverse and I support their personal choices.”
Virmani was arrested in 2014 after a 49-year-old woman alleged that he had raped her, but the charge was later dropped by prosecutors as the accuser had deleted text messages from her phone and “proving the crimes charged beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury would be unlikely.”
“These messages were primarily between the victim and a third party other than the defendant. She did in fact delete many text messages. The State believes that should this case have proceeded to trial, evidence of the deleted messages would have been brought out in court,” the Mecklenburg District Attorney’s Office stated.
“As a result, and after consultation with the victim, the State voluntarily dismissed all charges against Dr. Virmani,” it said.
