Pro-Lifers to Show Public Screening of Unplanned Outside of Planned Parenthood Clinics in Washington D.C.

Pro-life movie Unplanned has exploded into a box office success. After last weekend, CBN reports that total sales have hit $17.2 million. With the success of the movie, supporters are taking it the streets with a special public screening on the front lawn of the Planned Parenthood center in Washington, D.C.

“Our hope is to launch a nationwide campaign to eventually show Unplanned in front of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics across America,” Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition which is sponsoring this special viewing, told CBN. The group originally planned the viewing on Good Friday but canceled due to the weather.

Mahoney applauded Washington, D.C. for allowing them to screen the movie. He said, “This comes after Unplanned has been censored and discriminated against by social media giants, television networks and other outlets,” Life News reports. “It is critical for Americans to know that free speech and public expression are honored and protected in our nation’s capital with all viewpoints being allowed.”

The movie has caused a stir within the abortion worker community, as reported by Christian Headlines. Nearly 100 abortion employees have left their job since seeing the film, according to Abby Johnson’s nonprofit, And Then There Were None.

In Unplanned, Abby Johnson tells her story as a former Planned Parenthood executive who left the industry once she witnessed an abortion.  Her nonprofit works hard to love abortion clinic workers. “Almost daily, Johnson cold calls a clinic herself, telling whoever picks up, ‘I don’t know if you ever thought of leaving your job, but we’re here to help you,’” an opinion piece written in USA Today shared.

Abby Johnson also recently spoke at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. According to Crux News, “she described firsthand testimonials of women who have told her they canceled their abortion appointments and changed their mind on the issue after seeing the film.”
