One man has died and 83 people have been injured, since terror groups in Gaza began firing rockets into Israel around 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a rocket hit a building in Ashkelon, critically injuring a 60 year-old man. The man died on his way to the hospital, marking the first death since the fighting began on Saturday.

Shortly before the rocket hit Ashkelon, another rocket hit a building in Sderot, lightly injuring 3 people.

Between 10 a.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday,  83 people were injured, including an 80 year-old woman who was seriously injured in Kiryat Gat, a 50 year-old man who was moderately injured in the Ashkelon area and a 45 year-old man who was lightly injured in the northern Negev. All 3 were injured by rocket fragments.

6 people in Ashkelon and the northern Negev were lightly injured by rocket fragments. 12 people were lightly injured while running for shelter, while 62 people were treated for anxiety.

Since around 10 a.m. on Saturday, around 300 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza. Rocket sirens have gone off in the communities around the Gaza Strip, Ashkelon and Ashdod, and as far as Beersheba, Beit Shemesh and Gedera.

Terror groups in Gaza claimed that they had used new missiles in this latest round of fighting on Saturday. This has yet to be confirmed from Israeli sources.

The joint operations room of the terror groups in Gaza threatened to launch rockets at the Tel Aviv area as well, if Israel continues to attack targets in Gaza.
