Melania Trump Announces That Stephanie Grisham Will Be the New White House Press Secretary

First Lady of the United States Melania Trump announced Tuesday afternoon on Twitter that Stephanie Grisham will be replacing Sarah Sanders as the White House Press Secretary.

“I am pleased to announce @StephGrisham45 will be the next @PressSec & Comms Director! She has been with us since 2015 – @potus & I can think of no better person to serve the Administration & our country,” Mrs. Trump wrote on Twitter.

“Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the @WhiteHouse#BeBest,” she added.

Current White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders applauded the decision on Twitter noting that Grisham would do a “phenomenal job.”

Sanders – who announced earlier this month that she would be leaving the White House at the end of June – wrote, “@StephGrisham45 will be an incredible asset to the President and the country. I’m sad to leave the WH, but so happy our team will be in such great hands.”

She continued, “Stephanie will do a phenomenal job. Proud to have another mom and a great friend in this role!”

According to the Associated Press, Grisham has been working with the first family since 2015. Grisham worked as the spokeswoman for the 25thAttorney General of Arizona, Tom Horne for a period of time starting in 2011, worked on Senator Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012, and then in 2015 worked as a press aide on the Trump campaign. In 2017, the single mother of two took office in the West Wing of the White House as the deputy press secretary for President Trump. Later that year, Grisham was moved to the East Wing by Mrs. Trump to work as her head of communications.

According to the AP, in her new role, Grisham will continue to serve the first lady while also working as the Press Secretary to President Trump.
