Christian Apologist Norm Geisler Passes Away at 86
Christian apologist Norm Geisler passed away on Monday at the age of 86.
According to Premier – a United Kingdom media outlet – Geisler’s family announced his death on Facebook Monday after suffering from a brief illness.
Reportedly, Geisler – an author to over 100 books and a teacher or theology, philosophy and apologetics for over 50 years – had been battling an illness since April.
In a post on Facebook, the family did not disclose the details of the illness but shared that he passed away peacefully.
“It is with great sadness that we share this news that Norm Geisler passed away peacefully this morning,” the statement reads.
“He has left behind an amazing legacy that will continue to have a ripple effect for many years to come.”
Fellow Christian author John Stonestreet took to Twitter to voice his sadness and admiration for Geisler calling him a “towering figure in Christian apologetics. He wrote, “Norman Geisler, a towering figure in Christian apologetics and philosophy, has died. A lot of things exist because he started them, and I’m grateful for his endorsement of the first book I was part of writing.”

Pastor and adjunct professor Dayton Hartman also reflected on Geisler’s life and legacy writing, “Norman Geisler has died. His books were pivotal in my development as a young believer. His work encouraged me to have a thinking faith. I’m thankful for his life and legacy.”

Radio host and preacher Dr. Michael Brown praised Geisler’s work in apologetics. He wrote, “I just learned that Dr. Normal Geisler went home to be with the Lord this morning. May we honor his legacy by raising even higher the banner of godly apologetics in our generation!”

According to Geisler’s website, a funeral service will be held for him on Saturday, July 6 at 3 p.m. in Charlotte, North Carolina. The service will be open to the public.
