New Uber Service Will Go On A Run For You
U.S.—A new Uber service called UberJog promises to let you call an expert runner to go on a run on your behalf.
The Uber employee will jog to your house, put you on his back, and run for a few miles. If you’re wearing a Fitbit, he can put it on to earn steps for you. He’ll even stop at scenic vistas and take a picture of you. Good UberJog runners might even bring along some fake sweat to dab on your forehead so you can post a workout pic.
“Too tired to run? Now you can get in your workout without breaking a sweat,” said an Uber spokesperson in a promotional video. “You’ll still get full credit in your exercise-logging app of choice, and you’ll still be able to post workout selfies. It’s also completely anonymous—our Uber joggers won’t tell anyone that your run was actually just you riding piggy-back for five miles.”
You can rate Uber runners after your workout, giving them high marks if they let you pick the music their iPhone played and giving them low marks if they tried to make small talk throughout your run.
Readers of the Bee,
If just a small fraction of our visitors became subscribers, we’d have enough funding to stop running ads and reduce our dependence on big tech companies like Facebook and Google. Will you partner with us to make this possible?
