Franklin Graham Congratulates 2020 Hopeful Tulsi Gabbard on Winning Debate, Asks People to Pray for 2020 Election

Evangelist Franklin Graham has praised 2020 hopeful Tulsi Gabbard for her performance in the Democratic Presidential debate that took place in Detroit on Wednesday.

Gabbard is a decorated military veteran, having been deployed to Iraq in 2004 as part of the Hawaii Army National Guard. After serving for some time as a military police officer, in 2015, Tulsi was promoted from Captain to the high rank of Major in the Hawaii Army National Guard.

Many were impressed with her performance in Wednesday’s debate, as she went toe-to-toe with popular frontrunner, Kamala Harris. Indeed, as a result of her robust and articulate approach, Gabbard was the most-googled candidate in the hours following the debate showdown.

“Congratulations Tulsi! Several news outlets are reporting that Representative Tulsi Gabbard was the winner in last night’s Democratic debate,” Graham wrote on Facebook. “I’ve met Rep. Gabbard and worked with her to help people in her state of Hawaii who were victims of devastating flooding on the island of Kauai as well as those impacted by the volcanic eruption on the Big Island of Hawaii last year.”

Graham qualified that he “may not agree with all of her positions,” – Tulsi is in favor of abortion and same-sex marriage. Despite these clear disagreements, Graham noted that Gabbard is “concerned and passionate about her constituents,” and that “she’s got a head full of common sense.”

Finally, Graham called his 7.7 million followers to pray for all the 2020 election candidates, as the big day continues to roll ever closer.

“These debates are a reminder to be praying for the 2020 elections and who will serve as the president of our nation for the next four years. It’s never too early to pray!” he wrote.

Joe Biden leads the polls among the Democrat candidates, according to the New York Times. A recent Economist/YouGov survey also listed Biden as the leading frontrunner, with 26 percent of Democratic presidential primary or caucus voters saying they would support him. The former Vice President is followed closely by Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Kamala Harris.
