Jesus' Coming Back

‘Take That, Devil!’ Two Ex-Addicts Destroy Their Pot Paraphernalia, Proclaim Freedom in Jesus

TORONTO — A video posted to YouTube on Friday shows two former marijuana addicts destroying their drug paraphernalia in a parking lot and proclaiming freedom from strongholds through Jesus.

“We’re gonna break all of our stuff. This is all of our glass, guys. This is thousands of dollars of stuff,” one of the men, named Julian, explained. “We were so addicted to this. This stuff had a stronghold on us, and we’re going to break it all right now.”

“[T]hese things had a stronghold on our lives and we were severely addicted to these things,” the other man, Tyrell, said. “We never thought we would do this, but now that we’ve been freed and delivered from this, this is what we’ve got to do.”

The men attend Christ’s Forgiveness Ministries in Toronto, Canada, led by David Lynn, who is known for his evangelistic work on the street.

Explaining the monetary value of some of the items, Julian and Tyrell smashed everything from their bongs to a heat gun to a rolling tray, which was bent in half before being thrown to the ground.

“Wow. Take that, devil!” a man behind the camera stated. “This is what Jesus does. Jesus frees you from addictions. He frees you from the slavery of the devil.”

“Money doesn’t matter. Nothing matters except the Lord Jesus Christ and His love,” he added. “It’s the love the Jesus that has these men destroying all these thing right now.”

“It will never have a stronghold on us, in the name of Jesus Christ!” Tyrell proclaims.

The men then swept up the broken pieces to dispose of the smashed paraphernalia in the trash. Julian set a pair of magazines on fire that featured cover articles on marijuana. The estimated value of the items was between $2,000 and $4,000.

“I feel great. Praise the Lord,” Tyrell said. “Hallelujah.”

“You gotta get rid of this stuff if you have this in your house, you got an addiction to this stuff, you’ve got to break free from it,” Julian added. “I never thought I’d do this, but I’m so happy to do it.”

While a few disagreed, many rejoiced under the YouTube video, stating that they had likewise thrown away their drug paraphernalia or occultic goods after becoming a new creature in Christ.

“I did it, too! After 26 years of bondage. I was only able to break free in the powerful name of Jesus Christ!” one commenter wrote.

“I flushed my hash down the toilet six months ago, and with the help of Jesus I’ve not bought anymore,” another testified. “I smoked for 20 years. I don’t miss being stoned anymore. Being a pothead is no different than being a drunk, and no drunks will enter the kingdom of Heaven.”

“I remember when I kept on breaking my peace pipes and several meth pipes, and ultimately surrendered completely and broke my bong — just let it drop on the floor. Poured water into the weed bag. Wet the rolling papers. Made sure no one found it,” a third recounted.

“Hallelujah! Felt this way when I destroyed and threw out all my new age/witchcraft paraphernalia,” another cheered. “Jesus, Lord, thank you for delivering your children!”

In Acts 19:19, the Bible tells of those in the early Church who gave up their witchcraft and brought their books together, holding a collective bonfire to destroy them.

“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men. And they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver,” it states. “So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
