Texas Dad Fights to Keep 7-Year-Old Son a Boy in Final Court Battle
Texan father Jeff Younger will face a final court hearing this month that will determine if his 7-year-old son will stay a boy or change to a girl while his ex-wife petitions the court to allow the transition.
“James presents as a boy with me and he presents as a girl with his mom,” Younger said, according to CBN. “He gets dressed as a boy at his mother’s home and he comes out to me as a boy. That means that he’s comfortable as a boy at his mother’s home.”
Younger has said that his son only shows interest in being a girl around his mother, Dr. Anne Georgulas. While with Younger, James sword fights with his twin brother Jude and loves to wrestle.
According to LifeSite News, Younger has also been accused of child abuse for not treating James like a girl. So far, the court has not allowed him to treat James as a boy. He currently splits custody with his ex-wife for both James and Jude.
Though the court ruled that Younger should have equal say in how to register their son for elementary school, Georgulas ignored the order and signed James up as “Luna” for kindergarten. He goes to classes dressed as a girl and uses the girl’s restroom.
Georgulas, who has sole authority in the boy’s psychiatric and psychological treatment, also takes James to a same-sex counselor who diagnosed him with gender dysphoria. But Younger has pushed back on this diagnosis, claiming that James doesn’t meet six of the eight criteria for the condition.
“When I took James to see his gay counselor who affirms him as a girl, he went as a boy. She put two sticky notes down onto her desk. One had James on it. One had his fake girl name. She said, which name do you want to be called, pick up the sticky note. He picked up James,” Younger said.
But Georgulas and her lawyers have insisted on keeping Younger at a distance and petitioned the court to only allow the father custody if he acknowledges James as Luna.
Meanwhile, Jude has become confused by referencing his brother as a girl, but Younger has been forced by the court to not answer any of his son’s questions.
“When James is with me, he shows no signs of wanting to be a girl when given the choice. Even when in female company, away from me, James rejects a female gender expression,” a website set up in honor of James reads. “This suggests that the diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria should be reviewed by an independent psychologist. James has never had an independent second opinion. Medical and social intervention should be suspended until James’ father can get a good second opinion.
“James is unaware of long-term consequences of transitioning gender. James has expressed an interest in having children. If subjected to medical interventions, James will be permanently sterilized. James would never be able to have children.”
Many healthcare professionals believe gender transitioning for a child under 18 can cause disastrous outcomes.
“Doctors don’t have evidence that the treatment will be the right one,” Dr. Paul McHugh with John Hopkins University in Baltimore said. “Many people are doing what amounts to an experiment on these young people without telling them it’s an experiment.”
During a Heritage Foundation forum, Dr. MIchelle Cretella warned, “Indoctrinating pre-school kids with the lie that you can be trapped in the wrong body, again, that’s disrupting their normal reality testing and cognitive development. Those things are abusive.”
Supporters of Younger have set up a fundraiser to help Younger’s court fees. To date, over $43,000 have been donated with a goal of $75,000.
The next court date will be October 15-17 in Dallas.
