Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to travel to Japan next week, according to media reports, to attend the enthronement ceremony of Japanese emperor Naruhito, who took over the post from his father, Emperor Akihito, in May.

A ceremony formally recognizing his ascension to the post will be held on October 22 and will attract world leaders.

US President Donald Trump is not expected to attend the ceremony, which takes place just before the October 24 deadline by which Netanyahu has to form a government.
