Trump Just Ended All Sanctions On Turkey. This Is Just Another Proof That The Trump Administration Backs Turkey
By Theodore Shoebat
All of the Trump sycophants were acting so happy about Trump’s sanctions on Turkey, as though he was against the Turkish expansion of Syria. Well now he just ended all of the sanctions.
How many times have we talked about the Trump administration’s “roadmap” for Turkish military occupation over northern Syria? So many times I have lost tracked, and yet the Trumpets keep trumpeting about their president, but this should come to no surprise, since Trump said: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters, OK?”
We have been warning you for a long time now about how the Trump administration is backing Turkey, and yet so many are acting as though he is some sort of hero. And I know what you are going to argue: ‘The Turks promised to have a ceasefire with the Kurds.’ So what. Turkish backed rebels are still being reported to be committing war crimes. The US special envoy for Syria and the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Jim Jeffrey, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the US government believes Turkish-backed opposition forces in Syria have committed war crimes. “We’ve seen several incidents which we consider war crimes,” Jeffrey said. According to one report from Foreign Policy:
Backed by Turkey, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a decentralized band of Syrian rebels that has been linked to extremist groups, has launched a bloody assault on northeastern Syria, executing Kurdish prisoners and killing scores of unarmed civilians and Kurdish fighters with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
…
The group even deliberately targeted U.S. troops in Kobani on Friday, two U.S. officials, speaking on background to discuss sensitive operations, said separately. On Oct. 11, Pentagon spokesman Capt. Brook DeWalt confirmed reports that U.S. troops there had come under artillery fire from Turkey, adding that they were unharmed.
“It is not a mistake,” one senior U.S. administration official said. “They are trying to push us out.”
So Turkey’s proxies are committing atrocities and are helping Turkey control northern Syria. What the entirety of the situation is that the US is doing what it has been doing since the Cold War: backing its NATO ally, Turkey.
Parties change, policy does not.
