Bomb threat report briefly shuts down Patrick Air Force base in Florida

Parts of the Patrick Air Force Base in central Florida were evacuated for safety after a bomb scare that turned out to be a false alarm. All clear has been issued about an hour after the initial report.

The bomb threat was reported around 3 p.m. and saw the base security personnel, fire department and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) investigating the tip-off for about an hour before the all clear was given.

It came just hours after a shooter at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida killed three people and injured eight more, before dying in a shootout with police.

Patrick AFB is located just south of the principal US space launch facility at Cape Canaveral, on Florida’s eastern shore.
