MK Gideon Sa’ar voted in the Likud primaries at the Council for a Beautiful Israel building in Tel Aviv on Thursday, and said, “This is a fateful day for the Likud and the State. We have it in our power to bring about change and new hope for the citizens of Israel and guarantee the continued reign of the nationalist camp and a victory for our path.” “I asked for you trust and your votes in order to bring about the vision that the people of Israel expect,” Sa’ar continued. “Likud voters should cast ballots and guarantee victory for the party in the March 2 election.” As the primaries for the Likud’s leadership got underway on Thursday morning, Sa’ar claimed that voting started early illegally and that observers from his headquarters were prohibited from entering the polling stations.
Sa’ar’s headquarters sent a letter to the Elections Committee about the issues. The 116,048 members of Likud will be eligible to vote in their assigned polling station among 106 across the country in today’s Likud leadership race between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and challenger Sa’ar. But the stormy weather across the country is expected to result in a low turnout in the race, as will a Likud court’s decision to require the members to vote only in their Likud branch’s polling station.
