Abby Johnson Launches New Pro-Life Pregnancy Resource Helpline

In her years advocating for pro-life causes, Abby Johnson recently saw an unmet need for women facing unplanned pregnancies: connecting them with charities, according to Faithwire. Johnson found that pregnant women struggled to find public assistance or were required to wait too long for support to pay their bills or put food on the table.

So, Johnson did something about it. She launched a new ministry called LoveLine, a dedicated central database of public assistance programs and 24/7 helpline for anyone in crisis.

Since its launch, generous donors have provided over $22,000 in household and material goods for 43 women and 66 children. Several women have also received over $4,000 in college tuition and over $18,000 in financial assistance for rent and utilities. One woman’s deductibles were paid for the remainder of her maternity care.

“We’ve tapped into a deep need for people to help others, to feel like they are doing something to make a positive difference in another’s life,” said Pamela Whitehead, director of ProLove Ministries and LoveLine. “The immediate response from people to help has been overwhelming.”

LoveLine also sets up registries for pregnant women in crisis, which allows donors to meet a direct, tangible need quickly.

“It has been both a humbling and exciting experience to witness the love from people all over the nation who have stepped up to give these women in crisis situations a way out,” Johnson said. “Our phones have been pinging nonstop since we officially launched LoveLine and registries sell out in a matter of minutes. With the vast divisiveness in today’s culture, this is one area where love is stronger than our differences.”

One woman, Britni, was even referred to LoveLine by an abortion clinic worker.

“You all went above and beyond to help me get back on my feet,” she said. “You helped me with my deposits and first month[s] rent to ensure I could successfully make it on my own. You set up a registry to ensure I had everything from cleaning supplies to sheets, pillows, towels, and so much more.”

A mom of four from California recently reached out to LoveLine as well after she split from her husband who was struggling with substance abuse. She found out shortly after their separation that not only was she was pregnant with twins, she had lost her job as a restaurant manager. Struggling to make ends meet now as a single mom of six, she reached out to LoveLine for help.

According to LoveLine, “She had done her due diligence to obtain help but she was still short. We called several organizations in her area and found rent and utility assistance and even found another public assistance program that she had not applied for! We raised money to pay one month’s rent and she applied for the assistance so she will be covered until the programs kick in. She was overjoyed and said that she has hope again and believes that she is going to make it. We believe it, too, because when you love first, real abundant life follows!”
