Justin Bieber Reveals Lyme Disease Diagnosis
Popstar and outspoken Christian Justin Bieber shared on Instagram Wednesday afternoon that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
On Wednesday morning, celebrity news tabloid TMZ published an article claiming that sources confirmed that Bieber’s upcoming YouTube docuseries shows the 25-year-old opening up about his battle with Lyme disease.
Later that afternoon, Bieber confirmed the diagnosis on social media. Next to a screen capture of TMZ’s article, Bieber wrote, “While a lot of people kept saying Justin Bieber looks like s**t, on meth etc. they failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy, and overall health.”
The “Sorry” singer continued noting that his upcoming docuseries on YouTube will indeed further explain his journey with battling the disease. He wrote, “You can learn all that I’ve been battling and OVERCOMING!! It’s been a rough couple [of] years, but [I’m] getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease and I will be back and better than ever NO CAP.”
Bieber’s wife, model Hailey Bieber, also commented on the situation stressing the severity of the disease. “For those who are trying to downplay the severity of Lyme disease, please do your research and listen to the stories of people who have suffered with it for years. Making fun of and belittling a disease you don’t understand is never the way, all it takes is educating yourself,” Hailey wrote on Twitter.
