Benny Gantz, MKs were in Nachal Oz when rocket alerts sounded
A number of Knesset members, including Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Gabi Ashkenazi, MK Orna Barbai and MK Alon Schuster visited Kibbutz Nahal Oz while a rocket was sounded, The Jerusalem Post‘s sister publication Maariv reported. Rocket alert sirens sounded on Saturday in Alumim and Nachal Oz, near the Gaza border, according to the IDF. One projectile landed in an open field in southern Israel, according to the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council spokesperson. No injuries or property damage were reported. Earlier on Saturday, Israel Police were called to Sderot after reports of suspected incendiary balloons. Police closed and searched the area. No injuries were reported. Over the weekend, the IDF struck terror targets in the Gaza Strip, after several rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip that struck southern Israel on Friday, according to the IDF Spokesperson Unit. “The Israel Air Force struck several outposts of the Hamas terror group in response to rockets fired [at Israel] from the Gaza Strip,” the report stated. According to Palestinian reports, the IDF caused damage to Hamas outposts but no casualties were reported. The rockets were fired while tensions remain high over the release of US President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century.” Incoming rocket sirens were activated in the communities of Sufa and Nir Yitzhak, and a statement by the Eshkol Regional Council said that a rocket landed in an open area on Saturday night, causing no damage or injuries. Two hours earlier, sirens sounded in Sderot. The IDF said the projectile was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. Jerusalem Post Staff contributed to this report.
