Francis Chan Tells of Incredible Physical Healings While Ministering in Myanmar

Preacher and missionary Francis Chan has recounted some extraordinary stories of healing that took place while he was ministering in Myanmar.

Delivering a lecture at Moody Bible Institute, the former megachurch pastor said the supernatural occurrences challenged the level of his faith and encouraged him to take more risks when praying for people.

“People started coming forward for healing. Every person I touched was healed,” he said. “You guys, this is craziness to me. I have never experienced this in 52 years.”

Chan, who recently announced that he was moving with his family to Hong Kong to become a full-time missionary, recalled an instance of seeing a little boy and girl having their hearing supernaturally restored.

“[There was] a little boy and a little girl who were deaf. We lay hands, she starts crying, and she’s freaking out,” the preacher recounted. “And we’re, like, lay hands on your little brother … we lay hands on him and he starts hearing for the first time! You guys, this is out of my comfort zone, this is stuff I’d read about but I’m going, man, it happened. It happened!”

Chan went on to say his “faith was at another level” during those wonderful moments.

“I think there are some things that contributed. Some of it was just faith in His word, that when Jesus says, ‘I am in you and you are in Me’ … to take that literally,” he added.

Pastor Chan also delivered an update on his plans to move to Hong Kong, noting that he would be heading off “in a couple of weeks … Lord willing.”

“If I’m going to breathe another day,” he declared during his talk at Moody, “it’s to finish the task that He’s given me, which is to testify to the Gospel of the grace of God.”

“I just want to get out and explain the grace, what God has given me, through Jesus Christ.”

A decade ago, and as something of a first in the evangelical world, Chan stunned the faith community with the shock announcement that he was leaving his Simi Valley’s “Cornerstone” megachurch and launching a new house church project in San Francisco.

“I got frustrated at a point, just biblically,” the best-selling author explained during a talk at the Facebook headquarters in 2017, detailing the reasons for his decision to resign from Cornerstone. “I’m going, ‘wait a second, according to the Bible, every single one of these people has a supernatural gift that’s meant to be used for the body. And I’m like 5,000 people show up every week to hear my gift, see my gift. That’s a lot of waste. Then I started thinking how much does it cost to run this thing? Millions of dollars!’”
