Senate Committee Of The State Of Virginia Blocks Assault Weapons Ban

By Theodore Shoebat

A Virginia Senate committee put a block on the assault weapons ban that is being pushed by Democrat politicians, as we read in the Wall Street Journal:

A Virginia Senate committee dealt a blow to a top legislative priority for the state’s new Democratic legislative majority, voting Monday to delay a bill banning the sale of assault-style weapons.

The proposal has been the most contentious gun-control measure Democrats were trying to pass this year. It cleared the House of Delegates last week but faced a more challenging path in the Senate, where Democrats have a slimmer majority.

The bill didn’t make it to the floor for a vote. Instead, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 10-5 to push the bill off to next year, where it could have another chance to pass, and sent it to a state crime commission for study. Four Democrats sided with all six Republicans on the committee to back the delay.

“The House of Delegates delivered on our promise to take action to keep those weapons off our streets,” said Eileen Filler-Corn, Virginia’s Democratic House Speaker. “To call today’s vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee a disappointment would be an understatement.”
