Boko Haram Burns Five Churches, Scores Of People Killed

The Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram, which operated predominately in northern Nigeria in the Sahel region, executed another terrorist attack, burning at least five churches and killing and undisclosed number of people according to the Christian Post.

More than 100 Boko Haram militants opened fire sporadically and indiscriminately and set churches and houses on fire, killing many people, in the town of Garkida in Gombi area of the northeastern state of Adamawa, according to initial reports.

At least five churches were destroyed, including two houses of worship belonging to the Church of the Brethren denomination, an Anglican Communion church, and a church and a separate office of Living Faith Church.

There are unconfirmed reports of possible abductions. (source)

These church attacks have been going on for years. However, there is more than just the attacks here to consider, as the violence has caused a terrible humanitarian crisis not just in Nigeria, but throughout the western extent of the Sahel region. Many people are displaced and have nowhere to go.

Keep an eye on this region because as the violence continues, there is a strong possibility there will be talk of a “migration” out of the region, north and towards Europe. This would fall in line with report of another wave of migrants such as that which came in 2016.
