Move Over “Obama Phone”, It’s Now The “Trump Stack” As Trump Raises The Stakes From $1000 To $2000 Per American
Forget about Andrew Yang’s “$1000” for Americans, or those “Obama phones” that people complained about. It’s now the dawning of the “Trump Stack” as Trump is proposing now $2000 per American due to the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic as reported from TheHour.com by way of the Washington Post.
White House officials are working with congressional Republicans on an emergency stimulus package that could send two $1,000 checks to many Americans and also devote $300 billion towards helping small businesses avoid mass layoffs, according to two senior administration officials.
No final decisions have been made and talks with Republican leaders remain fluid, but the growing scale of the $1 trillion rescue plan is coming into sharper focus.
The White House will still need backing from Democrats before any plan can be pushed into law, but many Democrats have said they would support sending cash payments to Americans who are struggling to pay bills because of the virus’s economic impact. Still, multiple levels of negotiations remain. (source)
If this happens- and it is not confirmed yet -it would be a massive money printing, perhaps the largest in history.
Forget about Zimbabwe.
Forget about “Obama” and socialism, Trump’s actions would result in his biggest bankruptcy yet- the bankruptcy of a whole nation, because money printing results in devaluation of a currency, and the more money printed, the less valuable it becomes.
The thing is, all of this talking about money printing is putting Trump into a corner.
If he doesn’t give the checks, he could lose the election because people will not care about the good he has done. They will only say “Where is my check [insert string of expletives here]?”.
The average voter does not care or understand economics. They want instant relief, even if he does not understand that it may hurt him.
If the average man is promised money, he wants it.
He will not forget if he was told he would get “free money” and then it is denied him.
I’m not saying this is good or bad. I’m saying it is a reality that is common to all cultures and men across time and history, and the results are the same.
I said that Trump could still win based on his current position. That has now changed because the fundamentals themselves have changed as we speak.
I say that if he does not print the money, he may lose the election. That is how serious this is.
And we are witnesses to it.
What amazing time to be alive.
