Police arrest suspect in murder of 30-year-old Holon woman

Israel Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a Holon woman early Wednesday morning, according to a report released by Ynet news. Alaza Mandparo, the main suspect in the case and husband of the victim, was arrested for his involvement in the murder.  A 30-year-old woman was found unconscious in her Holon apartment and was later pronounced dead, Magen David Adom (MDA) reported on Tuesday.  Police suspect the woman was stabbed repeatedly by Mandparo, according to Israeli media.

Mandparo then fled the scene and police officers were searching for him with a helicopter, The Jerusalem Post‘s sister publication Maariv reported. Police released his photograph and name to the public and asked for help finding him.      Alaza Mandparo, an alleged murderer wanted by police / POLICE SPOKESPERSON'S UNITAlaza Mandparo, an alleged murderer wanted by police / POLICE SPOKESPERSON’S UNIT

Mandparo allegedly chased her when she tried to leave their apartment and stabbed her on the stairs in the building. The assault allegedly happened in front of their 14-year-old son who called the police, Haaretz reported, adding that a neighbor reported Mandparo fled holding the knife.
Mandparo was released from prison in March after serving 10 months for domestic violence against his wife who used to live in a shelter for abused and battered women, but left.
Domestic violence has increased in Israel in the last few weeks due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus and the many hours families are now forced to stay indoors with one another.
