‘I’ve decided to retire from fighting’: UFC star Conor McGregor claims he’s calling it quits AGAIN
UFC megastar Conor McGregor has announced he is quitting the fight game, although fans are unsurprisingly skeptical given it’s not the first time the notorious Irishman has claimed to be retiring.
The 31-year-old Dubliner announced his retirement on Twitter, posting a picture of himself and his mother.
“Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been!” he said.

Some were quick to dismiss the news as an attempt to grab attention. McGregor has announced his retirement twice in his career already, in 2016 and again last year, they pointed out.
The retirement announcement came shortly after UFC 250 in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White said he hadn’t talked with McGregor before his tweet, adding, “You know how Conor works. That’s how he does things.”
McGregor’s retirement claims come as White finds himself facing a pay revolt from some of the UFC’s biggest names.
Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has signaled he is ready to walk away from the promotion after talks broke down almost immediately for a superfight with heavyweight powerhouse Francis Ngannou.
Popular welterweight and UFC ‘BMF’ titleholder Jorge Masvidal said on Friday that he was also ready to quit, like Jones citing a pay row.
McGregor made a return to the octagon as recently as January, defeating Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone just 40 seconds into their welterweight bout in Las Vegas.
In the unlikely event that McGregor does retire for real this time, he’ll be hanging up his gloves with a 22-4 pro MMA record and as a former two-weight world champion.
