Activist Wants Statues of White Jesus Torn Down, Calls Them a ‘Gross Form of White Supremacy’
Social justice activist and pastor Shaun King expressed his disdain on social media over Eurocentric statues of Jesus Christ calling them a “gross form of White supremacy” and asserted that they should be removed.
“Yes, I think the statues of the White European they claim is Jesus should also come down,” King wrote on Twitter, Monday, according to CBN News. “They are a form of White supremacy. Always have been.”

King quipped how the Holy Family retreated to Egypt “to hide” and “blend in” instead of going to Denmark.
In addition to statues, the activist also called for the tearing down of “all murals and stained-glass windows of White Jesus, and his European mother, and their White friends.”
“They are a gross form of White supremacy,” he asserted.
King continued his tirade by saying that “White Jesus is a lie” created as “a tool of White supremacy” and “advanced to help White people use the faith as a tool of oppression.”
He added: “They never would’ve accepted a religion from a Brown man.”
King came under heavy fire from evangelicals for his comments, he even reported receiving death threats.
Senior Advisor Jenna Ellis of Trump’s Campaign stated her defiance of the movement that is attempting to “cancel Christianity.”
“If they try to force me to apologize or recant my Faith, I will not bend, I will not waver, I will not break. On Christ the solid Rock I stand. And I’m proud to be an American,” she asserted.

King dismissed Ellis’ response as “defending her whiteness.”
“Christian whiteness needs White Jesus. Attack White Jesus to her, and you attack her faith,” he wrote.
A Twitter user by the name of Mr. Subsidiarity noted that artistic depictions of Jesus Christ varied on “place and culture” and that it would be racist to remove them.
“There is a long beautiful history of people depicting Jesus looking familiar to their place and culture,” he wrote to King. “Jesus is not about race, and saying to tear down depictions that occur in a European-dominant context is as racist as removing them from any culture.”

On Wednesday morning, King reported that he had received hundreds of death threats by White evangelicals for his controversial remarks.
“In the past 48 hours, I’ve received about 500 literal death threats from White “Christians” who want me to know that they will kill me before they will ever take down their statues of White Jesus.” he noted. “Christian whiteness has always been violent, though,” he concluded.
