Pastor Carter Conlon Calls for Nationwide Prayer Meeting on 400th Anniversary of Pilgrim’s Covenant with God

Carter Conlon, who is best known for his role as the former Senior Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City, is inviting Christians to a special prayer meeting in October in Plymouth, Massachusetts as he believes God is calling His church to intercede for America.

The event will be held in the same location where the pilgrim’s sought the Lord 400 years ago upon their arrival to the country on the Mayflower.

“We’re going to be hosting a prayer meeting from the very house built in 1790 that sits on the portion of ground where the first house in America was built by the Plymouth settlers in 1620,” Conlon told CBN News. “It was in that house, that in a position of weakness, with half of them having given their lives the first year for the cause of freedom and religious freedom, they prayed.”

The pilgrims would go on to dedicate the country to God as part of a sacred covenant with Him.

“And God promised them 400 years ago, they and their descendants would have that freedom here in what became the Land of the Free. But what did we do with that freedom?” Conlon asked.

He added that Americans have then since violated their God-given freedom throughout the nation’s history such as slavery and the current issue of broken families, civil interest, and abortion.

“We’re going to ask God for forgiveness for what we did as a nation with the freedom God gave us,” Conlon continued.

Conlon noted that a Christian who currently owns the property where the Pilgrim’s first prayed felt by God to reach out to the New York City Pastor and arranged a visit with him.

As Conlon and the homeowner had a time of prayer in the house, he suddenly felt God’s presence in a powerful and tangible way.

“There was such an undeniable presence of God in that house, that when I went back to my hotel room that night, I couldn’t sleep,” he explained. “I said, ‘Lord, why did You lead me there?”

God would then lead Conlon to 2 Chronicles 6 and 7 in the Old Testament where the Lord is waiting for Israel to repent and return to Him.

“And my heart will be there perpetually,” he said, quoting 2 Chronicles 7:16. “In other words, ‘If you stray from me, I will wait here for you to come back’.”

Conlon then went on to explain how God is likewise waiting for His people to return to Him today.

“This is a pivotal moment for America,” he wrote. “We’re going to pray and we’re going to believe that God is going to resurrect this nation again. This prayer meeting is not our idea; this is a God-initiated moment in the history of this nation. The very future of America now depends on our prayers.”

The prayer meeting is scheduled to take place on October 6 as Pastor Conlon will be praying from the site in Plymouth. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be virtual. It will be live streamed through Time Square Church.

Christians can sign up for the prayer meeting on the “It’s Time To Pray” website.

Last Saturday, as Christian Headlines previously reported, tens of thousands of Christians and hundreds of evangelical leaders interceded for the country in two large prayer events held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
