He won’t ban fracking. He’ll merely strangle it with regulation.

Joe Biden committed the gaffe of telling the truth about his climate policies Thursday night when he said he wants to “transition” the U.S. from fossil fuels. The Democratic nominee is admitting that he plans to regulate the oil and gas business out of existence, and Americans soon to be “transitioned” may want to pay attention.

“Would you close down the oil industry?” asked President Trump during the debate.

Mr. Biden: “By the way, I would transition from the oil industry, yes.”

Mr. Trump: “Oh, that’s a big statement.”

Mr. Biden: “I will transition. It is a big statement. Because I would stop.”

Moderator Kristen Welker: “Why would you do that?”

Pa. voters buck Biden on energy: Under Obama-Biden ‘we lost everything’:

President Trump came out of the final debate with a stronger foothold in Pennsylvania thanks to the vast disconnect between former Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s messages on energy and kitchen-table issues.

For many voters in that Rust Belt battleground, there is no difference between the future of fracking or energy production and their livelihood — a link Mr. Biden broke when he vowed to achieve “zero emissions” and “transition from the oil industry.”

Mr. Trump responded to this declaration at the debate Thursday by hammering home the charge that Mr. Biden is a job killer.

“In terms of business, that’s the biggest statement,” said the president. “Because basically what he’s saying is he’s going to destroy the oil industry. Will you remember that, Texas? Will you remember that, Pennsylvania? Oklahoma? Ohio?”
